Grace Ann Stefanik's Obituary
Grace Ann Stefanik, age 93 of Imlay City, Michigan and formerly of Hazel Park, Michigan passed away on January 25, 2022 at Angela’s House Assisted Living, Imlay City, MI. She was born on January 27, 1928 at home in Detroit, Michigan.
Beloved Wife of the late Andrew John Stefanik (deceased 10-1-2006). They were married on June 17, 1950 in St. Hyacinth Church, Detroit, Michigan. Dear Mother of Gary Stefanik (deceased 1-11-1997), Sandra (Terry, deceased) Stungard, Kathleen Stefanik (deceased 5-3-2018), Andrew (Lavon) Stefanik Jr. and Cheryl (Steve) Bankhead. Daughter of the late Sally and Clyde Cutting. Grandmother of Jason Stefanik, Ryan Stewart, Amy McCartin, Carly Maniewski, Jessica Coakley, Andrew John Stefanik III., Matthew Herndon, Michael Herndon, Mitchell Herndon and her granddog Yogi. Great-Grandmother of Gary Stefanik, Ivy Stefanik, Emily Stefanik, James Stewart, Cameron Stewart, Hildie McCartin, Phillip McCartin, Kelly McCartin, Kathleen McInerny, Elizabeth McInerny, Colleen Coakley and Adam Coakley.
Grace graduated from Northeastern High School in 1946. She married Andrew Stefanik in 1950, they built their Hazel Park home in 1951 and lived there for 70 years moving in 2021. She raised her 5 children and retired from Great Scott Grocery. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church since 1951. Actively involved in the church including the Ladies Alter Society, worked Bingos, festivals and fish fries. She was a member of bowling teams. She donated her time to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
Grace loved her family, reading, growing flowers and helping anyone in need. She was loving, generous and never said “no”.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 30th from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary Service at 2:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. The Funeral will be held on Monday, January 31st beginning at 10:30 am Instate followed by the 11:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Hazel Park, Michigan.
Memorial donations may be made in Grace’s name to ASPCA or the Humane Society.
