VALKEN, GERALD, 71, of Royal Oak, died March 23, 2009. Beloved husband of Marilyn McLellan and former husband of Judith Moro. Dear father of William (Pamala) Valken, Mary (Dennis) Mitchell, Kristen, (Mark) Kosciolek, Michael Kulusic, Ann-Marie (Dennis) Brantley, and the late Richard Valken. Father in law of Sandra Valken. Loving grandfather of Kaylan, Christopher, Melissa, Jordan, Jillian, Matthew, Michelle, Michael, Alexander, Samantha, McKenna, and Jessica. Brother of Sylvia Srebernak.An electrician by trade, Jerry served two years in the US Army as a tank commander stationed at Fort Knox. When he returned from the Army, he worked for American Standard Plumbing in Detroit. He was hired by Detroit Manufacturing & Supply and Ann Arbor Pipe & Supply in 1963. In 1984, Jerry opened his own plumbing wholesale business, Madison Heights Plumbing & Heating Supply where he worked with his family, serving as CEO until his death. He also served as President of the Dad’s Club for Our Lady of Good Counsel in Detroit. Private services were held by the Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R., Madison Heights. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
