George Henry Ward's Obituary
George Henry Ward, age 99 of Southfield, Michigan, a former resident of Hazel Park, Michigan, passed away on January 16, 2021 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was born on September 19, 1921 in Hersey, Michigan to Alford and Evelyn Ward.
He is predeceased by his 1st wife of 52 years, Geraldine. He remarried in 2007 to Kathryn Ward who passed away in March of 2019. Beloved father of Shirley (Bob) Frank and David (Melissa) Ward. George was a loving grandfather and great-father to many.
George served in the Navy during World War II. He retired from General Motors after working there for 38 years. Also, he was an active and faithful member of the Church of Christ, serving many congregations throughout Southeast Michigan.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 20th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will begin again on Thursday, January 21st at 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am, at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block North of 13 Mile Road, West side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan.
During this time, the Funeral Home is asking for those who are considering attending these services to be aware and respectful of how we are limited to 25 people in the building at a time. Masks are available at the door and hand-sanitizer is located throughout the building.
