FILIP, GEORGE IVAN age 92 of Detroit, passed away May 25, 2016. He was born February 22, 1924 in Detroit. Beloved husband of the late Margaret. Dear father of Doreen Hagen. Loving grandfather of Kristi Hagen. He is survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by many family members and loved ones.
George retired after 30 years of service as a traffic supervisor for the Detroit Windsor Tunnel, a job he truly loved. Born in Detroit, he was raised in Keyville, Saskatchewan, Canada. He always looked forward to sharing in family gatherings and functions, and enjoyed many wondrous years at the family cottage at Point Pelee in Leamington, Ontario.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31st from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Masonic Service at 7:00 pm, the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 1st at 10:00 am at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, Madison Heights. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit.
