Frances Eleanor Mazur's Obituary
Frances Eleanor Mazur, age 97, passed away November 24, 2017. She was born in Detroit to John and Stephnia Kuczajda on December 21, 1919.
Beloved wife of the late Casmere. Survived by daughters Chris Mazur, Valerie Charles and Loraine (Scott Whaley) Mazur. Beloved grandmother of Frances Murray, Steven Charles, Sara Charles, Rebecca and Jennifer Whaley. Great grandmother of Brittany and Tim. Great great grandmother of Kayleigh and Addisyn.
Frances (Fran) grew up in a beautiful house on Livernois Road in Detroit. When she was of marrying age in the early 1940s, she had to wait because all the “boys" were in the service during World War II. When they finally got back from service, she met her future husband, Casmere, while standing in line outside the local theatre. He humbly offered to walk her home and the rest is history. They fell in love and got married in 1946. Fran and Casmere honeymooned in New York City. They bought a small house in Hazel Park on Shevlin Street where they planted trees that continue to tower over it to this day. They had 2 daughters, Chris and Val. A few years later they were expecting a third child. Fran really wanted a son who she was going to name “Larry.” That didn’t happen. She ended up with third daughter whom she named “Lori." Fran and Casmere were married 61 years until his death in 2007.
Fran worked with her brother at his jewelry company in the David Whitney building on Woodward Avenue. She also “free-lanced” at home assembling fishing rods and sewing neck pillows. She loved to travel. She crossed the United States on Route 66, went to Florida, Hawaii, Canada, the Bahamas, London, Venice, and her native country of Poland.
Fran loved to dance. Loved horses. Enjoyed reading murder mysteries and watching Championship Tennis on TV. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and would listen to every game on a small AM radio. Fran also loved her politics. You better have been prepared to joust with her on that subject.
Fran loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was very interested in their lives and loved to brag about them. She will be greatly missed by all.
