Ethel Adolean Bazzell's Obituary
Ethel Adolean “Mickey” Bazzell passed away on September 12, 2011 in Las Vegas, NV. She was born April 5, 1925 in Henry County, TN. She was the oldest daughter of John Washington Hughes (1894-1979) and Carrye Velma Lawrence (1904-2000). Mickey, who grew up in Murray, KY, lived most of her adult years in Hazel Park, MI, where she was an accomplished seamstress. She was a long-time member of the Beverly Hills Church of Christ.
Mickey married James M. Brazzell (DOD 5/31/2004) on April 26, 1947 in Corinth, MS. They had three Children: Randal A. Bazzell, of Las Vegas, NV; Anita G. Jones (m. Richard Jones) of San Bernardino, CA; and Sharon S. Bazzell of Warren, MI.
She was a sister to Mary Lee Hughes (1921-1922), James Everett Hughes (1923-2003) (m. Dorotha Henry) Hilda G. Swisher (m. Robert Swisher) of Paducah, KY, and William L. Hughes (m. Marie Ing and Stella Cathcart) of Coral Springs. FL.
Mickey was dearly beloved by 6 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren, 8 nephews and nieces, 11 great-nephews and nieces, and 12 great-great-nephews and nieces
In state Sunday 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with the funeral Monday at 1:00 pm, at the Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, Madison Heights, MI. Burial in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy. Donations can be made in memory of Ethel to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
