Ernest Conrad Scheid's Obituary
Ernest Conrad Scheid, age 98 of Madison Heights, passed away peacefully at his home on March 6th, 2026. He was born on December 27th, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Conrad and Hilda Scheid.
Ernie was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Scheid. Dear Father of Kevin Michael (Patricia) Scheid, Valerie Anne (Thomas) Gumbleton, Keith David (Tracey) Scheid, and Anne Marie (Steven) LaChance. Grandfather of Andrea (Deno) Garzolini, Amy (Nicolle) Scheid, Ryan (Alisha) Gumbleton, Patrick (Hillary) Gumbleton, Elena LaChance, and Maya LaChance. Great grandfather of Everett, Graham, and Isla Gumbleton.
Ernie was a hardworking man, employed into his 90s. A veteran of the US Navy, he was part of the occupying force during Japan’s surrender in World War II. Contributing to his community was important to him, shown by his volunteer work and active membership in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Dad’s Club and usher at St. Vincent Ferrer since the founding of the parish. The only thing Ernie loved more than fishing, his cottage, and Southern Comfort Manhattans was spending time together with his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will begin on Friday, March 13th at 3:00 pm and will continue until the time of the Rosary at 7:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 14th beginning with 10:30 am Instate followed by the 11:00 am Mass at St. Vincent Ferrer, located at 28353 Herbert Street, Madison Heights.
