Elva Hardy's Obituary
Elva Elsinore Hardy (nee Riggs), born in Detroit on December 1, 1929, left this life, her family and friends on December 9, 2009 at 1:20 p.m. at Troy Beaumont Hospice. Elva was predeceased by her parents Estol and Elsie (Bloodworth) Riggs and by her husband of 61 years, Charles Hardy. A 55-year resident of Madison Heights, Elva worked for a number of years at Spiegels in Royal Oak, received her long-anticipated high school diploma from Madison in ’88 at age 59, and attended classes at OCC. At time of death, Elva was employed by her dearest friend Dr. Sheila McKenzie at Loving Health Chiropractic for 23 years as receptionist/assistant. For many years she was a league bowler on a championship team. Elva was the quintessential people person and had a zest for life which she conveyed to her children Dianne (Larry) Hagerty, Michael (Kathy) Hardy and Patrick; grandchildren Mark Tremonti, Lisa Hagerty, Joel (Kim) Hagerty, Audra Clark; and great grandchildren Briana, Daniel, Mark, Jr., Jordan and Alex; brother James Riggs and beloved cat Hobbes. She loved to travel, shop and talk and did all three exceedingly well for 80 years. Love you, Mom. Visitation Friday 2:30 – 9:00 pm, with the funeral Saturday at 1:00 pm, at the Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R Road, Madison Heights. Burial in White Chapel Cemetery.
