My memories include every day things....when all the sisters were younger, not 2 days would go by without phone calls between them. I'd catch a little conversation (when mom would start talking in Belgian I missed it!)...it never would sound like it was a very busy day for any of them. I asked mom once why do you call so often if nobody has any news? She looked at me & said, "that's my sister...I want to know about her life, what she's up too, because there will become a time when we won't call each other as much). That seemed to happen within 5 years-just health of spouses, own health, got more & more in the way. I think that's a lesson for all of us....keep in contact with your loved ones now, because you don't know how soon it will all end.
She was so very nice to talk to, & she could be extremely funny! I remember the good times she had at Joanie & Tom's parties, just to be around family. She was so excited when she was made a grandmother!
1 memory that sticks out is when my mom got new glasses, the two sisters & sister in law wanted a pair of their own. So for awhile, until something happened, (did someone sit on their pair by accident?) they walked around all with the same glasses.
Another time they went to Frankenmuth to see Myron Floren play his accordion, & they got their picture taken with him! I teased Aunt Betty I was jealous...I had been to about 8 Barry Manilow concerts by then, never having gotten close to him, & here she is posing with Myron Floren! Talk about beginner's luck!
After my mom died, she called me every few weeks just to see how I was doing...the most caring soul!
I'll love you, Aunt Betty, always & forever! Karen M. Geisler OXOX
