I was very fortunate to know such a loving person in my life. I was a student of hers when I was in the 1st grade. My mother was very abusive and she offered to adopt me. It never happened however her caring nature has always stayed with me. I was truly blessed to have known her.
I remember fondly our mission journey with Vertis Craig, Jr. to Almirante, Panama with other Christians from northeast Arkansas. She had family in NE AR and loved the church in Portia. She was energetic, devoted, loving, and encouraging. Jesus was her Lord. Dorothy and my mother Dorothy Woodhouse were friends, too.
I graduated from Portia School with Dorothy in 1939. I have known Dorothy since we were very small children. When we had the Portia School reunion in 1996, I talked to her but she had other commitments at that time. May the family find peace in knowing that Dorothy is with our Lord and Savior. Without a doubt, Dorothy was one of my favorites. I remember all of the times that she encouraged me to "take the next step" whatever that step might be. I often reflect on her love for God, and her biblical knowledge. What a woman, a woman of God, and one that knew what it meant to be a servant!
You will be missed.

Dorothy will always hold a special place in my heart as a wonderful Christian mentor and example and source of strength to many. Her "light" will always shine on for me. . . Remembering you all with heartfelt sympathy at this time of her departing.
I have very fond childhood memories of time spent in the Jordan home. My aunts were in Pennsylvania so I didn't see them often. She took the place of an aunt in my life. She was in the dressing room with me when I was baptized at Parkview.
I never could understand how she could be out and about in the winter without a heavy coat and why she baked bread in coffee cans. And how we laughed about her almost serving the canned grape juice that fermented! I'm glad for the hug I got from her in mid December after a brief visit and look forward to spending eternity with her. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Diane
