Doris Shirley Sunde's Obituary
Doris Shirley (maiden Kangas) Sunde went to be with her LORD on August 9, 2019. She was born on February 10, 1926 in Eveleth, Minnesota to Andrew and Mary Kangas.
She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, Everett Ernest Sunde whom she married on July 22, 1946. Doris is survived by her children, Bernard Sunde of Cadillac, Michigan; Esther (Donald) Garton of Cadillac, Michigan; Erwin (Caroline) Sunde of Milford, Michigan and Rebecca (Charles) Wissner of Manistee, Michigan. Mother-in-law of Roger Thompson of Davison, Michigan and Rod Heikkinen of Chesterfield, Michigan. 17 Grandchildren, 30 Great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Sister of Glen Kangas of Cadillac, Michigan and Norman (Janet) Kangas of Washington, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughters, Valarie Thompson and Vivian Heikkinen; and her brother, Willard Kangas.
Her happiest times were those spent with her family and friends. She had 51 wonderful years with her husband going to family functions, camping, and traveling.
She loved to send out cards and letters, crocheting, gardening, sitting outside watching the birds and wildlife. She also loved watching the Detroit Tigers on TV.
Doris wanted to be remembered as a woman who loved her GOD and family. She loved watching the old time preachers with Billy Graham being one of her favorites. She loved the old time hymns such as The Old Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace. John 3:16 was her favorite verse. FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHO EVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 10:00 am until time of the service at 1:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block North of 13 Mile Road, West side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. Place of interment will be Christian Memorial Cultural Center, Rochester Hills, Michigan on August 15, 2019 at 10:00 am.
