Donald Nathaniel Herring's Obituary
Donald Nathaniel Herring, age 99 of Hazel Park, Michigan passed away on November 26, 2025 in Troy, Michigan. He was born on June 21, 1926 in Alton, Illinois.
Beloved Husband of the late Mae Herring. Loving Father of Donna (Ronald) Lambert, the late Jackie Mae Prescott and the late Wayne L. Herring. Grandfather of Scott (Amberrose) Lambert, Erica (Aaron) Veatch, Alexander (Pla) Prescott and Christopher Prescott. Great-Grandfather of A.J., Autumn and Aiden.
Don was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Always provided for his family no matter how difficult things could get. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and was very proud to have been a member of the Masons and Shriner organizations.
He worked as a machinist in the tool and die trades for many years. After which he had worked as an assistant in funeral service for the Ashley Scott Funeral Home and later for Hopcroft Funeral Homes in Hazel Park and Madison Heights. He enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers and small engines often helping out many of his neighbors. He will be remembered as a humble and generous man by his family and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd from 3:00 pm until the Funeral Service at 6:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights. Burial will take place at Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia, Michigan.
