Donal F. Young Sr.'s Obituary
Young, Donal, age 83 passed away at home on October 25, 2014. He was born on May 15,1931.
Don was the beloved husband of June for 62 wonderful years. Loving father fo Kathleen (Mark), Donal Jr. (Elizabeth), Christopher (Jackie), and Kimberly. Dear grandfather of 23 grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Dear brother of George Jr., Raymond and Kathleen. Son of George and Nora Young
Don was the son of a landscaping family. He owned Young Nursery with his brother Ray and together they beautified lower Michigan. Including Hazel Park Race Track and many places in the city of Detroit (Chene Park, Chrysler Headquarters).
His passions were golf, Houghton Lake, and landscaping his yard with many different varieties flowers.
He always made time for his children and grandchildren including many long stories and lectures. In his early years he loved his singing with the help of Mr. Budweiser.
He will be missed by family, friends, and many golf buddies. Rest in peace Dad, brother, friend. You're on the tee Wednesday. Hit 'em straight!
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 28, 2014, from 3-9 pm, with a Scripture service at 7:00 pm, at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, Madison Heights. He will lie in state at 9:30 am followed by Mass at 10:00 am, at St. Vincent Ferrer Church (on Herbert St. South off of 12 Mile Road, Herbert Street ends at the parking lot for the church) in Madison Heights. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family would appreciate donations to William Beaumont Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
