DiAnne Cagle Leitermann's Obituary
DiAnne Cagle Leitermann, daughter of Franklin and Gladys, age 71 of Madison Heights, Michigan went safely home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 24, 2015 at her home in Madison Heights, Michigan. She was born February 10, 1944 in Royal Oak Township, Michigan.
Wife of the late George Leitermann (deceased July 12, 2012). Mother of Tammi (Kevin) Lech, Kimberly McCardell and Tracy (Edward) Androsuk. Grandmother of Ryan Carrow, Chelsey Carrow, LinMarie Lech, Allison Lech, Charles McCardell, Gregory McCardell, Melissa Androsuk and Meghan Androsuk. Great-Grandmother of Landen Godsey, Blake Bowes, Angelina McCardell, Savanna McCardell, Sean McCardell, Bruce Androsuk and Marilynn Androsuk. Sister of Jean (the late Ernest) Schomer, Howard (Pat) Cagle, Joseph (Michelle) Cagle, Linda (Daniel) Bryant, the late Charles Cagle, the late Franklin Cagle, the late Richard Cagle and the late Donald Cagle. Survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a multitude of close friends.
DiAnne served on the Madison District Public Schools Board of Education where she was the president. She has served as president and vice-president on both the Oakland Schools ISD Board of Education, which is an area service agency that services the twenty-eight public school districts in Oakland County, as well as the Madison District Board of Education. She served close to 30 years in service to the children.

DiAnne received the 2000 Distinguished Service Award from the Madison School District and a Distinguished Service Award from the City of Madison Heights. She has also been awarded the Michigan Association of School Boards Award of Merit, Award of Distinction, Certified Board Member Award, Master Board Member Award and Master Diamond Award, as well as the National School Boards Association coveted Award for Distinguished Service. And DiAnne received a Distinguished Service Award from the Oakland County School Boards Association and is a sixteen-year member of its Board of Directors. DiAnne has been honored with WXYZ TV’s “Women Who Make a Difference” award, Madison Heights Youth Assistance “Champion of Children Award” and has been recognized by the state of Michigan for authoring an intended bill for tapping into confiscated drug monies for K-12 comprehensive educational instruction for children and training for teachers; DiAnne and her fellow board members on the Oakland Schools Board were awarded the prestigious Honor Board Award from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
She loved plants and gardening, salt water fish tanks, coral reefs, the ocean and being by the water, vacations in San Diego, but loved her children and grandchildren most of all.
