David Elmer Roberts' Obituary
David Elmer Roberts, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, with his wife of 52 years at his side.
He was born on October 4, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, to Elmer and Bonnie Roberts. David honorably served in the United States Army, where he met his wife, Janet Kinsey, while stationed in Panama.
David enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including fishing, gardening, and cooking. He took great pride in sharing meals with his family, tending his garden, and spending time outdoors. Above all, he cherished time with his grandchildren—always quick with a joke, eager to watch BattleBots with his grandson, and proudly known as the family’s master of Jeopardy! and trivia.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet (Kinsey) Roberts; his children, Michael Roberts and Sandra (David) Kluttz; his grandchildren, Brandon Roberts and Abigail Sollars; and his siblings, Rebecca Nieman, Denise Hope, Timothy Roberts, Danny Roberts, and Gary Roberts. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bonnie Roberts, and his brothers, Michael Roberts and Raymond Roberts.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, services will be private.
David Elmer Roberts will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
