David Bruce Hawkins' Obituary
David B. Hawkins of Madison Heights, Michigan passed away peacefully at home following a horrific accident. He was born on July 21, 1949, the son of Douglas and Gwen Hawkins.
David attended and graduated from Berkley High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his county for 32 years retiring as a Sergeant Major.
David is survived by his long time friend, companion and other half, Debra Drew (Sugar Shorts) and his beloved dog Mr. Milo. His sons, Gregory and Mark Hawkins, their mother Theresa Suarez and a granddaughter, Lux all of California. His sister, Kathleen (Peter) of Texas. His beloved cousin Heather Osterland (Jim) and daughters, Ashley and Addison. Numerous cousins and his Aunt Bonnie Kovach of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mark. Survived by his sister-in-law, Marianne and nieces Amber (Edwardo) and AnneBeth Hawkins all of the Netherlands.
David is also survived by his second family, Thomas Lacklin, Connie Norton (Wayne), grandchildren Logan (Kayla) and Wendie Galloway. Marlene Steagall (Henderson) and predeceased by his beloved Granny (Henderson).
David enjoyed traveling, riding his Harley and the love of the ocean. He will be sorely missed by those who loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan on Sunday, June 29th at 1:00 PM. Visitation begins at noon. After the service, a luncheon will be provided at the funeral home. Please share a story or photos on his memorial tribute wall at this website.
Due to the ongoing construction on John R. Road, it is advised that those who plan on attending the services for David B. Hawkins to turn onto Brush Street from 13 Mile Road to use our back entrance.
