David Charles Cosgro's Obituary
David Charles Cosgro entered into eternal life on Saturday, March 21st, 2020 at the age of 66. After his birth in Wyandotte, Michigan, his family moved to Madison Heights, Michigan where he remained a long-time resident. His father was the late William Thomas Cosgro and his mother was the late Shirley Ann Cosgro (Vollmar). He was predeceased by his eldest brother Thomas Bruce Cosgro. He is survived by his youngest brother, Allan Ross Cosgro (Kathryn).
David attended school in the Lamphere district taking part in several extracurricular activities throughout his formative years including: band, football, scouting, and wrestling. As he grew, he learned the value of ‘service before self’ due in part to the strong leadership of his family and his Christian upbringing. As an Eagle Scout and devout Presbyterian, he volunteered with passion in both his church community and the community at large.
Mr. Cosgro earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He established a lengthy career in interior design, space planning, and furniture sales converting more than a few clients into friends along the way. He had a unique way of making friends out of complete strangers wherever he went as was his social nature. Mr. Cosgro’s hobbies included camping, cooking, entertaining, and sharing stories. He most enjoyed being outdoors in nature and spending time with family and friends.
David met Carol Ann Cosgro (Mazzenga) and the two shared a life together for 39 years. He was the doting father of Kerri Lynn Cosgro (Daggy), proud father-in-law of Jonathan Andrew Daggy, and new grandfather of Logan James Daggy. Mr. Cosgro leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends including Hilary Boyer (Andrew, Colin & Rebecca), Nathan Cosgro, Janice Mazzenga, Kathleen Budi (Michael), Nancy Mazzenga (Jenna and Kayla Martines), Linda Halkey (Michael, Jacob, & Julia), Steven Mazzenga (Laura, Anthony & Nina).
Mr. Cosgro was ever the optimist. His faith in the resurrection reminds us all that we do not need to say “goodbye” but rather “until we meet again.”
