I have known the Potter family for about 23 years. Dan Jr. And his wife Jill Have become a close friends in that time. Dan has been calling on me and the company I work for for that time. Dan was very close with his dad and often spoke of him. I know Dan’s love for the outdoors which became his passion and livelihood was sparked and instilled by his dad. I had the pleasure of meeting and hunting with Dan sr. on a few occasions. I was impressed by his smile, his love for the outdoors. His love of people, his wisdom and zeal for life. It has been wonderful to see through my friend Dan the love and admiration he had for his father and had for his entire family. His father instilled that too. I know my friend and his family are hurting for the loss of their beloved patriarch, but he is not in pain. May the love you have for each other the Legacy your dad has left and the grace and peace of Christ sustain you. I hope their is some joy today also as you celebrate the life of a great man who has left a piece of himself with you all.

in honor of Dan.

I met Dan through a mutual friend of ours and my high school teammate Max Burchi. Our first experience together was hunting partridge in the Deford State Game Area. Dan was always going to hunt until we dropped out. We fooled him we lasted until there was no more land to push. Dan was very active in the National Turkey Federation and loved his camp in north western Michigan. .After an absence of 35 years out of country and away from Michigan I called Dan to hunt the wile eastern turkey. It was like we had not lost any time together or memories of Max. Dans claim to fame was he called in 15 birds in a straight line down a sandy two track out of a swamp right in front of my brother Ron (Ripper) and I. We doubled up two great trophy birds and one of the top hunting experiences I have had. Dan shared his entire life history with my brother and I. He told me he had a scholarship to U. of D. to play basketball and had a great memory of playing against "jumpin Johhny Greene" of MSU. Dans health was not the best but it did not interfere with his love of his family and the outdoors. Dan you are missed and my turkey mount will always bring back our great out door experience together "UP NORTH." Donald P. Bieschke

Due to his behind the scenes activities on so many fronts, few people know the monumental contributions he made at the state and national level. He asked for little and gave so much....

I worked with Dan for a number of years at Farmington Hills. He was always a leader and a positive influence. After his retirement he was the center of a monthly luncheon that allowed a number of retirees and employees to keep up with the friendships we had developed. I never tired of hearing of Dan's stories and his many adventures. He led a full life...he won't be forgotten. Condolences to the family and all who knew him.

Dan was City Manager when Steve was Mayor of Hazel Park. He was a great Administrator. Dan was always a gentleman & always said the right thing. After politics we remained good friends & kept in touch by having dinner together. Our favorite was dining on Mid-East cuisine. Our prayers are with Barb & entire family.
