Cranford "Ford"'s Obituary
Cranford “Ford” Nix, age 79 of Waterford, MI, and formerly of Berkley, MI, passed away on October 14, 2012. He was born on November 15, 1932, in Blairsville, GA. He is survived by his companion Betty Turner, grandchildren Phineas and Aesop Smith, Brothers Clayton and John Nix, sisters Mary Lou Whitt and Charlotte Collins. He is predeceased by his son Cranford H. Nix Jr., his two brothers and two sisters. He served in the US Air Force, belonged to the Masons and Shriners, and was retired from Chrysler Corp. He invented and played a double neck banjo and was inducted into the country music hall of fame. Visitation Tuesday 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm (6 pm Mason Service) with the funeral Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, Madison Heights, MI. Burial in Georgia. Donations to the Parkinson Foundation are suggested.
