Christopher Michael Casey's Obituary
Christopher Michael Casey, age 55, of Madison Heights and formerly of Berkley, Michigan was the much-loved son of Diane Casey of Berkley and Russell Casey of West Virginia. He was a great big brother to his sister, Kelly and Uncle to Stephen Casey Sr, Britney Kalanik , Nicole Casey and Samantha Mossop and Great Uncle to Audrina, Charlotte, Elayna, Stephen Jr, Gabriella, Tanner & Anastasia (Ani).
An in-home accident took him from us unexpectedly. He missed two events: The Detroit Grand Prix and his favorite event, his 56th Birthday, by just a few days.
Starting at a very young age his life as a curious, daredevil, adventurer and investigator began and his quest for knowledge of taking things apart and putting them back together (sometimes) to see how they work again. Electronics, music equipment, lamps, clocks, phones, lighters and many other objects were not safe around Chris - including candy bowls!
In high school metal shop, SEOVAC small engine repair classes, jewelry making and design classes became his next challenges and he was always creating something unique and new.
Within a few months after graduating from Berkley High School he entered the United States Air Force and has always said “it was the best decision I ever made in my life.” He grew into manhood there with his fellow team members and became a skilled jet engine mechanic while stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada for 4 years. He bought his first car then motorcycles and continued his repair and building journey with bigger and better toys!
He returned home from the service in 1989 and met many more talented, inquisitive, creative, artistic people and he kept learning and growing as a person. His friends are all truly phenomenal people with very similar interests and talents.
Car and motorcycle repair, love for musical instruments or any electronic moving devices led him to jobs at the Detroit Science Center, 3 Dimensional Services, Bolt Head Manufacturing, music group Buddha Fulla Rymez and Advanced Lighting & Sound.
You will be greatly missed by your family and friends, Chris.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R Rd, Madison Heights, MI 48071 on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 4 – 8 PM with Sharing of Memories at 7:00 pm. If you wish, donations can be made to any Veterans Group in Chris’ honor.
