Charles William Young, Sr. (Bill), age 87, of Warren, Michigan passed on October 8, 2015. He was born in Detroit on February 4, 1928 to Clois and Jarrell Young.
Loving husband to the late Edith Jean Smith, late Ora Graham Young, and the late Martha Dees Young. Father of Charles W. Young, Jr. (Rowena), Janet Lerdahl (Ken), Roger Young (Amber), Karen Serilla (Mike), Nancy Comito (John), Juanita Lovell (Luke) and the late Jarrell Young. Grandfather of Cheri, Heather, Eric, Paul, Scott, Kyle, Paige, and Perry. Great grandfather of ten and great, great of one. Special friend of Helen Fields. Brother of the late Martha Lou Ruley.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, Post WWII Forces, former Hazel Park Police Chief, past District Governor Rotary International, founding member South Oakland County Lodge 130 Fraternal Order of Police, past board member of the Royal Oak Salvation Army, and past member Warren Crime Commission.
Charles was an avid reader especially of Civil War History, crossword puzzle enthusiast, photographer, cyclist, tennis player, world traveler, fan of Detroit Sports and computer techie.
Visitation on Saturday from 5 pm - 9 pm, Sunday, 2 pm - 9 pm. Funeral Monday at 11 am. at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R Road, Madison Heights, MI
