Carl was born in Bay City, Michigan in 1942. He graduated from Lamphere High school in 1960. Not long after graduating high school Carl joined the Army. He served a full and honorable enlistment term. After active duty separation he again served by joining the Army Reserves. His Military Occupational Specialty served him well in civilian life. Carl ultimately became a Journeyman Welder, a title that is a high honor in the skilled trades. He worked for the Ford Motor Company for many years just as his father and brothers did. During periods of being laid off from Ford, you wouldn't find Carl sitting still at home, as this wasn't his nature. He would be working hard at any type of job he could get his hands no matter if it paid in cash, barter, or favor!
Carl actually enjoyed fabricating things, anything! He could work in wood, metal or stone! He also liked to hunt and fish when he could get away for it. He was an excellent shooter. He and his wife Myrt transformed the family property in Cheboygan into a vacation destination which they enjoyed together for many years.
All who knew Carl also knew that you could count on him no matter what when you really needed him to be there for you. His sometimes gruff exterior could never quite hide the vulnerability and caring that always shone through.
It is with a sea of both sorrow and joy that we say goodbye to Carl the husband, Carl the steadfast and loving father and grandfather, and Carl the brother. We will all love and miss you forever and always.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16th from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm and the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 17th at 11:00 am at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R.
