Calvin Glen Strouse's Obituary
Calvin Glen Strouse “Cal”, age 97 of Hazel Park, Michigan died Monday, October 23, 2023. He was born July 16, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to Alta and William Strouse.
Calvin is reunited with his beloved wife Marilyn and son Gary Strouse.
Calvin was the proud father to Glen Strouse, Cheryl (Robert) Wood, and Connie (John) Kelley. Grandfather to Aleshia (Nathan) Naeyaert, Heather (Eric) Helsel, Destinee (Scott) Doutry, Rachael (Andrew) Jennings, Ethan (Stephanie) Wood and Eric (Jennifer) Kelley. Great – Grandfather to 7.
Calvin was a veteran of World War II. He served honorably in the Navy as a Seaman First Class on the USS Monterey. After his time in the Navy, he went to work for the City of Hazel Park until his retirement.
Calvin unquestionably loved God and his family and was an incredible example to all who knew him. He always had something kind to say, and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was known for his beautiful rose bushes, love of gardening and his yearly race for the first red tomato with Pastor Mike and Gary.
Calvin attended the Hazel Park Church of the Nazarene, where he taught Sunday school for many years, spreading his faith to anyone who would listen and lived out his long life as a true example of faithfulness.
Visitation will be held at Hopcroft Funeral Home in Madison Heights Saturday, October 28th from 10 a.m-12 p.m: Funeral to start at 12 p.m. Rev. Mike Kempton will officiate. Burial to follow at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Michigan.
