Bruce Alan Herzog's Obituary
Bruce Alan Herzog, age 63 of Ferndale, Michigan passed away suddenly on October 30, 2020. He was born on June 21, 1957.
Beloved husband of Melissa Herzog, Dear father of Sydney and Blake Herzog, brother of Kim (Glen) Short. He is survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces, and also leaves behind many close friends.
Bruce graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1975. He resided in the city his entire life. He married Missy in 1991 and they enjoyed 29 years together.
He was a devoted family man who loved his wife and children. He took an active role in the lives of his children. He coached his son in basketball and baseball and took him fishing whenever he could. Bruce instilled his love for sports in Blake. He was especially proud when he was made 8th grade athlete of the year and made the varsity football team as a freshman. He was also very proud of Sydney and supported her school activities, including when she was in dance and the color guard. He was excited that she landed a job at the bank and had recently received a promotion.
Bruce was an avid fisherman, golfer and bowler. He had accumulated many 300 games during his life. He was also a huge fan of Michigan football and looked forward to Saturdays and bowl games with friends and family. His true joy was to be on the water fishing.
Bruce made his living as a professional painter. When Bruce painted your home, he became not only your contractor but your friend. He was a kind person who everyone liked. He enjoyed music and barbeques in his yard with close friends and family and will be dearly missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 9th from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 7:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block North of 13 Mile Road, West side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan.
