Betty Lee Dickens' Obituary
Betty Lee Dickens, age 93 years of Madison Heights, Michigan passed away on September 17, 2025 at American House Somerset, Troy, Michigan. Betty was born on April 27, 1932 in Mountain City, Georgia to Earl Carlos Sexton and Mary Margaret (maiden Jenkins) Sexton.
Beloved Wife of the late Corbett Wayne Dickens (June 23, 2013). They married on December 17, 1955. Loving Mother of Ron Gaskin (deceased), Cynthia Averill and Linda (Chris) Dube. Grandmother of Jennifer Averill and Ian (Amber) Dube. Great-Grandmother of Izzabella Baldwin, Gabrielle Dube, Lydia Wendt and Alayna Wendt. Betty is predeceased by her siblings, Norman Sexton, Carlos Sexton, Sharon Shope and Robert Sexton, she is survived by sister, Burmalou Coleman.
Betty grew up in Mountain City, Georgia. She was a great Christian woman. She loved serving the church, first at Dakota Missionary, Detroit, then at Warren Community, Warren, Michigan. She taught 3 year olds Sunday School for 23+ years. Mother was the best “southern cook and baker”! There wasn’t anything she could not cook. Betty made beautiful homemade decorated cakes as well. Most of all, Betty was a very beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her “grandbabies”.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 22nd from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. Burial will be at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley, Michigan.
Memorial donations in the memory of Betty can be made to the Detroit Rescue Mission or any donation to missions of your choice.
