Barbara Collinsworth's Obituary
Barbara Lee Collinsworth, age 79 of Mio, Michigan peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital, Bay City, Michigan. She was born Monday, July 16, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan.
Barb is the wife of Edward Collinsworth. Mother of Pam Collinsworth and Larry Collinsworth. Step-Mother of Patricia Baker. Beloved Grandmother of Alex Thornton. Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Milton Bryan and the late Easter Azilee (Yarbrough) Howie. Sister of the late Ralph Howie and the late Rose Marie O’Keefe.
Barb earned an Associate Degree from Central Michigan University and earned a Masters Degree from University of Michigan. She worked for 12 years with the Walled Lake School District and then 23 years as an Associate Dean for the Macomb Community College. She has been a long time member of the Mio United Methodist Church and a member of the 83 Grayling Order of The Eastern Star. She loved to read, play golf and especially enjoyed her Trillium flowers.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 18th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan. Funeral Service on Friday, July 19th at 10:00 am Instate followed by the 11:00 am service at The Mio United Methodist Church. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, Madison Heights, Michigan. Burial will take place at Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak, Michigan.
Donations may be made in Barb’s memory to the Mio United Methodist Church, 1101 W. 8th St., Mio, Michigan.
