Anthony "Tony" Charles Bliss' Obituary
Anthony Charles Bliss, 60, of Madison Heights, was called home suddenly to be with our Lord on May 19, 2021. Anthony, or as many called him, Tony, led a life of service, driven by his love for his Savior. He was focused on helping others by volunteering his time with the Jaycees, the City of Madison Heights, Lamphere Schools, and as an usher and youth minister at St. Vincent Ferrer. Also, he loved dedicating every Christmas season to being Santa for special needs children. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to help family, friends, or total strangers.
He was kind and compassionate, always putting himself last. Second to his devotion to God, he loved his family fiercely. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight among other leadership positions where he spearheaded many community outreach projects. Through the Knights, he found his calling, working for them as an insurance field agent. He loved his job so much, because he was able to help so many, that he said he would never retire. His sense of humor was one of his many charms, as was bursting into song at any random moment. He always looked on the bright side of his life, and he left footprints on the hearts of those who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife Paula, and three sons of whom he was so proud: Mark (Allie) Bliss, Christopher Bliss, and Luke Shepherd. He is survived by the three apples of his eye—his grandchildren: Kaelyn, Arielle, and Alaric Bliss. He also leaves his mother, Shirley Bliss, who he loved to the moon and back, and seven treastured siblings: Mike (Karen) Bliss, Ann Bliss, Cathy (Bill) Meadows, Joe (Karen Bliss), Sue (Stan) Ciemerych, Christine (Cameron) Tallman, John (Mary) Bliss. He is survived by two aunts and an uncle, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Lawrence “Larry” Bliss.
