Ann Stromar's Obituary
ANN RAUNIKAR STROMAR, age 100, of Troy, MI, died peacefully at her home on January 13, 2010. She was born October 1, 1909 in Carona, Kansas. Ann received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma and a Master’s Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit. She worked as a secretary to the attorneys of Parke Davis Co. in Detroit for 7 years, and then taught elementary and secondary grades in the Warren Public School System for 28 years. Ann was an active member of the SNPJ Wolverine Lodge #677 for over 70 years. She contributed countless articles and pictures to the “Voice of Youth” and to “The Prosveta”. Upon retirement, she acquired a four-row button box accordion and thoroughly enjoyed playing with her sister Molly Hribar and friends in the Button Box Polka Group. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Molly Hribar, her dog Jodie, numerous nephews, great nephews, nieces and great nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor Stromar; parents Edward and Mary Raunikar; brothers Eddie, Frank and Fred Raunikar; and sister Mary Zupanchick. Visitation will be Friday 2-9 PM, with Funeral Saturday at 11:00 AM, at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, Madison Heights. She will be laid to rest in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, Troy. Memorials may be made to the Slovene American Club or the Michigan Humane Society.
