Amanda Franke's Obituary
Amanda “Jean” Franke, a servant of Jesus Christ, the Son of God passed from this temporal life on earth to eternal life in heaven on Dec. 11, 2009 at age 74. She was the beloved wife of Ronald Dean Franke and were married on Jan. 22, 1961 in Memphis, TN.
Her family felt blessed to have her in their lives and have lived in the metro area of Michigan since 1965. She was the beloved mother of Jennifer (William) Hansberry, Libby Carpenter, and Christopher (Jodi) Franke. She was the proud grandmother of Evan, Chloe, Zachary, Kaitlin, Bailey, Clare and the step-grandparent of Shauna.
She was born in Oceola, AK on March 19, 1935, the youngest child of Grover and Lucretia Mosley and remained close to them all the days of her life. She was preceded in death by sisters Lyda Thaxton, Annie Lou Cayson, and brother Sterling Mosley. She is survived by sisters Lucy Taylor of Bartlett, TN and Bess Palmer of Fulton, MS.
Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always fondly put everyone ahead of herself and did so until the end. She also loved Christian music, especially congregational singing.
She was a life long member of the Church of Christ and served at the Royal Oak Church since 1972. She worked with the older members of the congregation helping with their shopping and cleaning needs. She was also very active with the Michigan State Fair Church of Christ booth in grading correspondence courses and giving out Bibles. She was there whenever a need occurred and was known for her wonderful cooking. She enhanced and made better every thing and every body around her.
Visitation Tuesday 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R., Madison Heights, MI. Funeral Wednesday 10:00 am Instate, 11:00 am Service at the Royal Oak Church of Christ, 115 S. Campbell Road, Royal Oak, MI. Burial at Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak. Jean and her family would appreciate donations to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org) or charity of donor’s choice.
