Alfred Niksa's Obituary
Alfred Edward Niksa, age 93, of Royal Oak passed away on March 31, 2010. He was born September 25, 1916 in Detroit. He was a 1935 graduate of Madison High School. In April 1941 he entered the U.S. Army anticipating to serve one year. That plan changed when World War II started on December 7, 1941. Mr. Niksa served as an anti-aircraft gunner on Christmas Island and coast artillery in Hawaii, yet he found time to marry his sweetheart, Irene in 1943. He later trained as a flight maintenance gunner crew member on a B-17 bomber, preparing in England for bomb runs, when the war ended in 1945. After the War, Mr. Niksa entered art school and started a career, as an automobile stylist with Chrysler Corporation, that lasted 27 years. He retired in 1975. He is survived by his son Robert (Elizabeth) Niksa of Crystal Lake, Illinois and his daughter Linda (Sam) Rasool of Kent, England and grandchildren Michael and Sarah Niksa. He will dearly be missed. Services were held privately by Hopcroft Funeral Home, Madison Heights. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in the name of Alfred E.
