Bob was an editor of the Leader and Kalkaskian (Kalkaska County, Michigan) in the early 80's, one of several community newspapers our Up North Publications group produced. A talented writer, his natural inquisitiveness, insights and sensitivity were much appreciated by his loyal readers and those of us fortunate to have worked with him. An industrial tabloid (special section) highlighting the region's then burgeoning oil and gas and manufacturing community, won Bob and the paper several prestigious awards. And I believe was a springboard to a writing position downstate. Bob made a difference in this life. His many friends our affirmation of that.

Bob was my friend before he was my brother-in-law. He traveled back and forth to Central Michigan University with my family on many occasion. He wore a fringed vest and was spontaneous and bright as I recall during those years. When Dave and I meet he was accepting of me and always included me in his life. Bob was forever kind to me. Not one time did he ever cause me pain. He was amazingly talented and shared that with his friends, colleagues, other relatives but most of all his neices and nephews prior to having his three wonderful children. When I saw him at the hospital he made me smile. He understood how much his life meant to him and others. He was indeed a blessing. I will miss his remarkable open mouthed eye-brows up facial excitement, but it will forever be in my mind.

Bob and I have been very good friends for many years and I will greatly miss him until I meet up with him in heaven. He had such a kind and humble heart to all that he came in contact with. He was passionate about his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and extended that same passion towards his loving wife Renee and children, Lindsey, Robbie, and Kaitlyn. I am praying for the comfort of the Lord to extend to his family and friends during this time of grieving.

Every now and then you meet a person who exemplifies pure goodness. Bob was one of those people. Just a few minutes with Bob could lift your spirits when you didn't even know that they needed lifting. His love for and ability to view life in a positive way was contageous. I am a better person for having known him. Heaven will be an even kindler, gentler place with Bob there.
