Peggy Joan Carrig

January 28, 1932 - December 4, 2019

Peggy Carrig, born in Aurora, Missouri to Milburn Edward and Gladys Fields, enjoyed a full and generous life filled with love, laughter and joy as she was surrounded by loving family and friends. She lived life with a generous heart, compassionate spirit and lighthearted sense of humor that touched many. Peggy was the beloved wife of the late Carl (Dave) Carrig. Loving sister of Jerry Fields and his wife Evelyn. Loving mother of Steven (Barbara), David, James (Roxanne) and the late Randy Carrig and proud grandmother of Steffani Carrig. Peggy was also loved and cherished by her many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and their children. Peggy Fields grew up in Highland Park after her parents moved to Michigan in 1934 and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1950. It was in Highland Park that she met and fell in love with Dave Carrig and they were married on May 10, 1952. They spent 47 years together, raised four sons and built a wonderful life in Madison Heights, Michigan among supportive neighbors. She was a loving mother and homemaker and dedicated employee of General Motors from 1977 until her retirement in 1992. She was also an avid gardener, bowler, golfer, card player and lover of the City of Detroit. Her generosity included being a long-time contributor to many charities including the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Purple Heart, Salvation Army and the Human Rights Campaign. Visitation will be held at Hopcroft Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 9th from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Hopcroft on Tuesday, Dec. 10th at 11:00 a.m. followed by internment at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. Flowers are welcome or donations in Peggy’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association online at www.heart.org or by phone at 1-800-AHA-USA1. Hopcroft Funeral Home is located at 31145 John R Road, Madison Heights, MI 48071.
