Lauretta "Laurie" Mazur

March 15, 2020

Lauretta Mazur, wife of 51 years to Emil, mother to Jeff (Theresa) and Amanda (Corry), Nani to Dylan, Gabriela, Cameron and Collin, sister to Janice, Ann Marie (Michael), Leon (Debbie), Allen and Bernard, daughter, aunt, friend and so much more went home to God on March 15, 2020 at 10:28 am. Laurie was a fighter. She fought Multiple Sclerosis for close to 40 years. In the last week of her life she kept that fighting spirit, holding on to give her family the time that they needed to gather, say their goodbyes, exchange stories, memories and words of love. She gave her final gift to her youngest grandson, holding on so she could spend one more birthday on this Earth with him. In the end, giving him the gift she had left, to go home and be with God. Laurie did so much in her almost 74 years on this Earth. Besides being a mother and a homemaker, she also spent many years as a Medical Administrative Assistant. She volunteered for the American Red Cross. She was an avid bowler and soccer player as well as a coach for her daughter’s soccer teams for many years. She was an active member of her community and neighborhood. She attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church every Sunday and could always be found helping out with coffee and doughnuts after Mass. She traveled whenever she could, both with her family, as well as with the close knit group of couples from Sylvan Glen, the neighborhood where she and Emil lived for the past 45 years. Those that had the good fortune to have met Laurie knew how her smile could light up a room. They knew how infectious her laughter was. They knew they could go to her at any time for advice, a kind word, a hug or anything at all that they needed. She took care of everyone in her life and despite all the trials and tests that she faced, she never lost her positive attitude. She was a true testament to love and goodness and she will be missed terribly. Arrangements for a visitation and mass will be forthcoming.
