Hasim Myslimi, age 81, passed away peacefully in his home on October 12, 2019, surrounded by family. He was born on December 2, 1937 in Butke, Korce. Active, adventurous and high-spirited, he loved the outdoors. Back in Albania, he enjoyed collecting mushrooms from the forest and catching eels, fish and frogs fresh from the river. He loved biking and continued biking daily even into his eighties. He had an unquenchable thirst for learning and was an avid reader. He routinely watched the news to stay informed and was knowledgeable in many domains from politics to coin-collecting. He loved collecting all sorts of things, especially watches. Due to his inquisitive nature, he would take them apart to try to understand how they function. A sage, wise man – he knew the right thing to say in every situation and offered valuable advice. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shpresa (Vasha), daughters Irma (Peter) Gazheli, Eva (Fatos) Bejte, Rezana (Dhimitri) Gjini and Blerta (Sean Lystad) Myslimi, grandchildren Gledi Bejte, Eleni and Pandeli Gjini, Cersiana and Xhoni Gazheli, brother Mehdi (Vjollca) and sister Emine (Pellumb) Vasha. Hasim is pre-deceased by Xhelal and Fatime Myslimi. Services will be on Wednesday, October 16 at Hopcroft Funeral Home from 3 to 9 pm.
