We played together for many years....he had a dry sense of humor..we had many laughs together. I'll miss charlie a great deal..I was always excited to return from Florida in the spring to visit Charlie.. Dale Kemp.

Charlie and I met 10 years ago when Marty Biscorner asked him if he had room for me on his team. Charlie was a little reluctant to take me because of the number of players he already had playing for him. He agreed and we immediately clicked and developed a very good friendship. Charlie lived and breathed softball 7 days a week. He drew his own score sheet and if anybody could figure it out my hat is off to them. I know one thing, there were not many hits recorded on his sheet. Charlie was tough on the batting average. You would think he'd ease up a little at this age but not the case. In his mind a hit was a hit and an error was an error. The baseball fire that burned in this man was incredible. If anybody deserves to be called "The Legend" it is Charlie. I am so grateful Charlie accepted me on his team and played me like I have been on his team for years. His love and knowledge of the game trickled down to every player in that league. There wasn't a player in the league that didn't admire this man. He will be missed by everyone that knew him and especially everyone that had the privilege of playing on his team. Thanks again Charlie. Rest in Peace my friend.
Charlie was a great guy. He Played on my father's softball team about 25 years ago. They won the seniors league in Warren with a 27-3 record. When my father, Harry A Radtke passed, I gave Charlie the championship trophy. Here is a great story. About five years ago, there was a softball managers meeting at the Frasier senior citizens center. I was representing the Mandziuk Warriors team. Our manager, Chuck Koury could not make it, so I took his spot. Charlie was there representing his team. Wouldn't you know it, this Polak and Charlie were there a week early. So what did we decide to do? Go to Roger's Roost and you know we weren't there for water or sodas. We shared a few cold ones at the diamonds when the games ended. God bless Charlie. We'll all miss him.

14 years ago I met Charley. I asked him what was going on and he told me a 55 and over softball league. I told him I would be interested in playing but was still teaching and didn’t get out into mid June. Charley took my information and I joined his team. It developed into a 14 year friendship. I would call him about once a week to check in. I will miss hearing his voice and our talks. The “Ledgend” lives on.

Charlie Hansel was truly our softball community’s “A Man for All Seasons!” He was a player, coach, manager, inspiration, critic, humorous, conscientious, thoughtful, spirited….. The last sentence was left incomplete for you to add additional kind words about this great human being.

Life is funny sometimes with the way at various stages of your life people enter and exit. Being one of the 'younger' seniors to join the softball group I only met Charlie about 5 years ago but he along with some of the other older seniors such as 'Zook' went out their way to make me feel accepted and comfortable with this great group of guys. Always quick with a quip or a joke I never realized just how strong a person Charlie was. At his age, showing up to play ball or just visit with his friends after the previous days chemo treatment showed me just how strong he was. I'm sure he was a handful when he was in his prime and I wish I had known then. He truly lived up the moniker the guys bestowed upon him..."The Legend". Rest in Peace Charlie.
